Working
with Schools
St
David's Church has a close working relationship with all the local
primary and secondary schools. The vicar takes assemblies in the
schools on a regular basis and often goes into a school to spend
lesson time with an individual class. The schools also visit St.David's,
either taking part in one of the normal round of services, by learning
about its history and structure, and by learning how the Church
is part of the community. Sometimes, too, the school will visit
the Church for a "service" which helps to illustrate some
of the points made in a lesson, or series of lessons.
Here
are some photos of a local school visiting to learn more about "special
occasions", and we see them participating in a "baptism"
and a "wedding".
The
Clergy realise what an opportunity is given by such a close working
relationship and are always glad to welcome schools to the church,
or to "take the church to the school".
