Fete
- August Bank Holiday Monday
The
40th annual fete, held on Bank Holiday Monday enjoyed good weather,
and a good crowd who came to share in the fun of the day. With stalls
ranging from Trash & Treasure to the ubiquitous coconut shy,
there was plenty for everyone to do. A display by Bridgend Arts
Society, and local craftspeople added to people's enjoyment of the
day. A feature of the fete are competitions for the local schools
and again this year the standard of entries was very high. The winning
entries in all classes were displayed for all to see.
The
proceeds from each year's fete are devoted totally to the maintenance
of the fabric of St David's and the Church Hall.

Hog Roast Barbecue - Bank Holiday Monday
To
round off a very successful village Fete, a Hog Roast Barbecue was
held in the evening. About 200 people joined together in the grounds
of the Blandy Hall, adjacent to the church, to enjoy a late summer
evening with pleasant company, good food, and for many, a good bottle
(or two) of wine. The whole day was reminiscent of an idyllic village
scene, and the lazy hazy days of summers long past. We look forward
to the next Fete in 2002.
